Move in and move out cleaning is part of Homi's deep cleaning service in Amman. What separates it from every other clean is simple: the property is empty. No furniture to work around, no personal belongings to avoid, and nowhere for anything to hide.
Why an empty property is a different job
An empty flat is both easier and harder. Easier because the team can work continuously, reach every wall, open every cupboard and move through rooms without negotiating around a family's possessions. Harder because there is nothing left to conceal a poor result. Every mark on a bare wall, every stain on an uncovered floor and every crumb in an empty drawer is visible from the doorway.
That changes the standard. In an occupied home, a deep clean is judged on how much better it looks. In an empty one it is judged against handover condition, which is an absolute rather than a relative measure. Someone is going to walk through with a checklist, and either it passes or it does not.
It also changes the order of work. Because nothing has to be protected or moved back, the team can run a clean top-to-bottom sweep of the entire property and finish the floors in one continuous pass on the way out.
Moving out: handover condition
When you are leaving, the audience is a landlord, an agent or a buyer, and the point of the clean is to remove any reason for a dispute. Attention goes to the things people inspect: the inside of the oven and fridge, the state of the bathroom grout and shower screen, cupboard interiors, interior window glass, balcony floors, and the walls behind where furniture stood.
It is worth telling us what the tenancy or sale agreement actually requires. Some landlords in Amman want the property returned in the condition it was received, others have a specific list. If you send us that list at booking, the visit is planned around it rather than around a generic checklist.
Moving in: someone else's home
When you are arriving, the job is different in feeling as much as in method. The property may look clean and still carry the previous occupants throughout it: hair in the drain traps, residue in the cupboard corners, a smell in the kitchen, film on the inside of the wardrobe doors.
A move-in clean deals with the parts of a home that nobody inspects but everybody touches. Drains and traps, extractor filters, toilet seats and hinges, tap aerators, door handles, light switches, the tracks of sliding doors, and the insides of every cupboard, wardrobe and drawer. It is what makes an unfamiliar property feel like yours from the first night rather than the third week.
If the previous occupants had pets, or you have any concern about what was left behind, mention it. In some cases a pest control visit before you move furniture in is the sensible order, and it is far easier to do while the property is empty.
Inside cupboards and appliances
On an occupied deep clean, cupboard interiors and appliance interiors are optional add-ons, because they are usually full. On an empty property they are the core of the work and are included as standard.
That means inside kitchen units and drawers, inside wardrobes and built-in storage, inside the oven, inside the fridge and freezer where they remain, the washing machine drum, seal and detergent drawer, and the extractor hood and its filter. Shelving is cleaned on both faces and along the edges.
Marks the furniture was hiding
Every removal reveals the same things: a pale rectangle where a wardrobe stood, scuff lines along the skirting behind a sofa, dust compacted under a bed, adhesive from wall fixings, and the greasy shadow above where a cooker sat.
Most of it cleans off. Some of it will not, because it is wear rather than dirt: sun-faded paint, a dent in the plaster, a chipped tile. We will clean what is cleanable and tell you clearly which marks are damage, so you are not arguing about it during a handover inspection.
Timing around the move
Book the clean after the last item has gone out, or before the first item comes in. Doing it while a removals team is still carrying boxes wastes both visits.
For a move out, the day after the property is emptied and the day before handover is the best slot. For a move in, book for the day before your furniture arrives. Amman moves often shift by a day, so tell us as soon as you know and we will adjust rather than lose the booking.
Curtains left hanging in the property are worth thinking about separately, because they hold a great deal of the previous occupants' dust and smoke, and are handled under furniture cleaning rather than as part of this visit.
