Wash and fold is part of Homi's laundry and dry cleaning service in Amman. Everything is collected from your door, washed, dried, folded and returned bagged, with no pressing stage at all.
What wash and fold means
It is the plainest of the laundry services and, for most households, the one that handles the largest share of the weekly pile. Items are sorted by colour and fabric, washed, tumble dried, folded by hand and packed. That is the whole service.
What it deliberately leaves out is the press. No iron, no steam finishing, no hangers. The clothes come back clean, dry and neatly stacked rather than crisp.
Removing that step is exactly why it costs less than wash and iron. Pressing is slow, hands-on work, and it is charged accordingly. For anything that spends its life in a drawer or a linen cupboard, you are paying for a finish nobody will ever see.
What to send
The rule is simple: if it gets folded rather than hung, send it to wash and fold.
That covers t-shirts, underwear, socks, pyjamas, gym and sports kit, joggers, hoodies, jersey dresses, baby clothes, children's everyday clothes, towels, bath mats, bed sheets, duvet covers, pillowcases, and kitchen cloths. It is also the right service for a holiday suitcase emptied all at once, where the priority is getting a mountain of mixed clothing clean rather than presentable.
Households with young children tend to get the most out of it, because the volume is high, the turnover is fast, and almost none of it is worth pressing.
What not to send
Anything you would hang in a wardrobe and wear out of the house should go to wash and iron instead: shirts, work trousers, blouses, uniforms and linen. They will be washed perfectly well in a fold order, but they will come back folded, which means creased, which means you will end up ironing them yourself.
Anything the care label marks as dry clean only should be kept out entirely and sent to dry cleaning. Wool, silk, tailoring, beading and embroidery do not belong in a water wash.
Keep out heavily soiled items with oil, paint or grease as well, and flag them separately at booking. Those need direct treatment before washing, and putting them in a mixed load risks spreading the problem.
Towels, sheets and why they suit this service
Towels are bulky, they hold a lot of water, and a domestic machine handles them badly. Overloaded drums do not rinse properly, and detergent left in the pile is what makes towels stiff and stops them absorbing. Commercial machines have the drum size and the extraction speed to rinse and spin them properly, so they come back softer than they usually do at home.
Bed linen is the other clear case. A duvet cover is awkward to wash, worse to dry and genuinely unpleasant to fold alone. Send the set, get it back squared off and ready for the cupboard.
Neither benefits from a press. A pressed towel is a towel that cost more for no reason at all.
How wash and fold is priced
By bundle size: small, medium and large, set by piece count. Because the price steps up in bundles rather than per item, a fuller bag brings the cost per piece down, so it usually makes sense to run this as a weekly order rather than sending small amounts often.
Estimate the count roughly at booking. Everything is counted and logged at collection. There is a minimum order value, so a weekly bag works better than a handful of pieces.

Preparing the bag
Empty every pocket. Tissues are the usual culprit and they disintegrate across an entire load; coins and keys knock about the drum; a pen through a wash cycle is not recoverable and can mark several garments at once.
Pair socks loosely or send them in a mesh bag if you want them returned together, since single socks are the most commonly mislaid item in any laundry. Turn dark denim and printed t-shirts inside out. Separate anything brand new and strongly dyed, especially red and deep indigo, so it does not bleed onto lighter items.
Keep this bag separate from any wash and iron or dry cleaning you are sending. One bag per service is the single easiest thing you can do to make an order go smoothly.
Turnaround and delivery
Most orders come back within one to two days. Heavy loads of towels and bedding sit at the longer end, since drying rather than washing sets the pace.
Everything returns folded and bagged. Unpack it reasonably soon. Clothes left compressed in a sealed bag for days will hold the fold lines and can pick up a stale smell even though they are clean.
