Hourly cleaning is a booking model within Homi's house cleaning service in Amman rather than a type of room. You book a block of hours, a vetted cleaner arrives, and they work through your list in the order you set until the block ends.
How the hourly model actually works
You choose a length. The cleaner works for that length. There is a minimum booking length because a visit shorter than that cannot produce a useful result once travel and setting up are counted, but above the minimum you decide.
Nothing is charged per room and nothing is quoted per task. That is the trade: you get flexibility over what gets done, and in return you accept that the hours are finite and something at the bottom of the list may not be reached.
Who the hourly model suits
It exists for maintenance cleaning, meaning a home that is already in reasonable order and needs to be kept there. Kitchen surfaces, bathrooms, floors, dusting, bins, bed changing. Work that is predictable because it was done recently.
It is a poor fit for a home that has fallen a long way behind, and it is an even worse fit for anything involving heavy build-up. Those cases are covered further down.
How many hours should you book
An honest rule of thumb: start from the number of bedrooms and bathrooms, then adjust for whether the kitchen and bathrooms are included.
A one-bedroom flat with one bathroom, kitchen included, is a short block. Two bedrooms and two bathrooms is noticeably longer. Three bedrooms with three bathrooms is longer still, and at that size most people either book a longer block or drop something from the list.
Bathrooms and kitchens are the two heaviest items. Take both out and ask only for floors, dusting and tidying, and the same home needs far less time. Leave both in, and add for each one honestly rather than hopefully.
The one thing that makes the biggest difference
Give the cleaner a priority order at the start of the visit. Not a list, an order.
The hours will run out somewhere. The only question is where. If you have said nothing, they run out at whatever the cleaner happened to leave until last, and there is a fair chance that is the thing you cared about most. If you have said "kitchen first, then both bathrooms, then floors, then the bedrooms if there is time", the block ends in the right place.
Walk the home
Two minutes at the door, room by room, pointing at what matters. This is the highest-value part of the whole visit.
State the order
First, second, third. Name the one task that must be finished no matter what, and the one you are happy to lose.
Flag anything unusual
Delicate surfaces, a room to leave alone, a machine nobody should touch.
Check at the end
A quick look before the cleaner leaves, so anything missed is raised while it can still be fixed.
What realistically fits
In a short block: one kitchen or one to two bathrooms done properly, plus floors in the main living area. Not all of it.
In a longer block: kitchen, two bathrooms, floors throughout, dusting and beds in a typical two or three bedroom home. That is a full maintenance clean, and it is the usual choice for a recurring booking.
"The whole flat, and the balcony, and inside the oven" is more than an hourly visit unless the block is long.
The clock starts on arrival
Time is counted from when the cleaner reaches your door, not from when cleaning begins. That matters more than it sounds, because a cluttered home spends its first hour tidying rather than cleaning: clearing the counter before wiping it, moving what is on the floor before mopping it.
If you want the hours spent on cleaning, clear the surfaces and the floor beforehand. Ten minutes of your time buys a large share of an hour of theirs.
If the block is running short and you want more, ask on the day. Extending is often possible when the cleaner has no booking straight after, though it cannot be promised in advance.
Materials and equipment
Cleaners bring professional materials and the tools of the trade. What helps is having the basics of your own home available: a working vacuum, a mop and bucket, and bin bags. If you prefer specific products used on your surfaces, such as on stone, wood or a particular finish, leave them out and say so.
Light ironing or a load of laundry can be part of a block if you say so and accept it uses hours like anything else. Larger volumes, and anything needing dry cleaning, belong with laundry and dry cleaning.
Weekly or fortnightly blocks
Most people settle into a recurring block, weekly or fortnightly, and we keep the same cleaner where scheduling allows. Continuity produces a better result: by the third visit they know your home, where things live, which surfaces need care, and what you always want done first. The briefing shrinks to nothing and more of the block goes on cleaning.
Book a block on the website, or call us if you prefer. We operate 9 AM to 9 PM, seven days a week, and our mobile app is launching soon.
We cover all of Amman, including Abdoun, Dabouq, Khalda, Deir Ghbar, Shmeisani, Tla' Al Ali, Jubeiha and Sweileh.
What is not an hourly job
Three things, plainly. A first-time catch-up on a property that has been neglected for months. Post-renovation or post-construction dust. Heavy built-up grease or limescale that has been accumulating for years. All three are deep cleaning, because they need different time, method and equipment, and trying them by the hour produces a half-finished home and a wasted booking.
Sofas, carpets and mattresses are furniture cleaning and are never part of an hourly visit, because they need extraction machinery a cleaner does not carry. If your home is large enough that hours stop being the sensible unit, look at villa cleaning instead.
