Laundry pickup and delivery is how Homi's laundry and dry cleaning service in Amman reaches you. It is not a separate booking. It is the way every laundry order moves, in both directions.
How pickup works
Book a window
Choose which services you need, give a rough item count and pick a collection window that fits your day.
Leave the bag out
Have it ready at your door at the start of the window. You do not need to wait around for the whole slot.
Collected and logged
The driver takes the bag, items are counted and tagged to your order, and processing begins.
Returned to your door
When the order is finished you are contacted to arrange the return. Pressed items come back on hangers, folded items bagged.
Choosing a collection window
Pick a window when someone will realistically be at home, or when the bag can safely sit inside a doorway or with a building doorman. The most common cause of a missed collection is a slot chosen optimistically rather than honestly.
Morning windows suit people who want the order to start the same day. Evening windows suit anyone who is at work until late and would rather hand the bag over in person.
If your plans change, tell us as early as you can so the window can be moved. A driver already outside your building is a harder problem than a message sent that morning.
One bag per service
This is the single most useful thing you can do, and it takes two minutes.
Put wash and fold items in one bag, wash and iron items in another, anything going to iron only in a third, and keep dry cleaning pieces entirely separate. Label them if you can, even just with a scrap of paper inside.
Two things follow. Counting and sorting at intake is faster, so the order moves sooner. And nothing gets handled the wrong way, which is how a dry clean only garment ends up in a water wash. A wool jumper that travels in with the towels is a jumper at risk.
If you are only sending one service, one bag is obviously fine. The rule only matters when you are mixing.
Check every pocket before the bag goes out
Pockets cause more laundry problems than every other factor combined, and every one of them is preventable in the ninety seconds it takes to check.
A pen is the worst case. Once a pen goes through a wash cycle the ink is dispersed through the load, and it marks not only the garment it was in but often several others. That damage is not recoverable.
Tissues shred into thousands of fragments that cling to everything in the drum. Coins and keys knock around and can damage both the machine and the clothes. Receipts pulp. Lip balm and lipstick melt and spread grease. Cards, cash, keys and earphones simply get lost.
Zip up trousers and jackets, fasten hooks so they do not catch on finer fabric, and turn dark denim and printed t-shirts inside out while you are at it.
How items are counted
Give a rough count when you book. It does not need to be accurate. It only tells us roughly how large the order is so the right capacity is set aside.
The real count happens at intake, where each piece is logged against your order. That count is what the bundle size is based on. There is a minimum order value, so a fuller bag is worth waiting for.
Flag anything unusual at booking rather than tucking it into the bag and hoping: heavy stains, valuable or sentimental garments, anything unlabelled, anything brand new and strongly dyed. It takes one line and it changes how the item is handled.
The return trip
You are contacted when the order is ready so the delivery lands at a time that works, rather than arriving unannounced. Most orders are back within one to two days; dry cleaning and heavily soiled pieces can take longer.
Pressed items arrive on hangers and covered. Hang them promptly and give them space on the rail, because pressed clothes packed tightly together crease again quickly. Folded items arrive bagged. Unpack those reasonably soon too, since clean laundry left sealed for days holds its fold lines and can pick up a stale smell.
Check the order against what you sent on the day it arrives. Anything raised straight away is far easier to sort out than something noticed a fortnight later.
Buildings, doormen and parking
Amman is full of buildings where the front door is not the obvious one, the street number is not displayed, or parking near the entrance is impossible at certain hours. Any of these can turn a two-minute collection into fifteen.
Add a note at booking. Tell us the floor, whether there is a lift, whether a doorman can hold the bag, which entrance to use, and the nearest landmark if the address is hard to find. Drivers read these notes before they set out.
Areas we cover
Pickup and delivery covers all of Amman, including Abdoun, Dabouq, Khalda, Deir Ghbar, Shmeisani, Tla' Al Ali, Jubeiha and Sweileh.
